Tuttomercatoweb links Antonio Conte with a potential Manchester United agreement

Tuttomercatoweb reports Antonio Conte is nearing an agreement with Manchester United, as Michael Carrick comes under pressure after the club’s poor start to the Premier League season. The claim, relayed by The Peoples Person, has not been presented as a confirmed appointment or a completed change in the dugout.

The Italian outlet raised Conte’s name while discussing the possibility of his return to Juventus, according to The Peoples Person. Tuttomercatoweb described the former Juventus manager as “reaching an agreement” with United, but gave no terms or timing for the reported deal. The report therefore points to a possible replacement for Carrick without establishing that Conte has been appointed.

United’s results help explain why Carrick’s position is under scrutiny, The Peoples Person says. The club have collected six points from their first six league games and sit 13th in the table. Their record is one win, three draws and two defeats—a start that has left them looking to make up ground on the teams above them.

The gap to seventh-placed Leeds United is three points, and Leeds are next on United’s league schedule. The sides are due to meet away from Old Trafford on Sunday, 18 October, at 14:00 BST. That fixture gives Carrick an immediate opportunity to improve United’s position, while the Conte report adds to the attention around who might lead the club if a change is made.

For now, the distinction matters: Tuttomercatoweb’s claim is a report from Italy, not confirmation that United have reached an agreement or replaced Carrick. It offers no detail on what any proposed agreement would involve. United’s next league match is against Leeds, while the question of Conte’s future remains framed by the report rather than an announced appointment.
