1Several sources
A story starts from reports by several sports outlets and from official club and league sites. Reports about the same event are grouped into one story, and the most complete and reliable report is used as the main source, with the others as support.
2Our own data first
Scores, line-ups, goals, cards, injuries, suspensions, tables and form come from SportStatsAPI's match data. Match previews and match reports are written from that data, not from other outlets' articles. Where the data and a report disagree, the official data wins.
3Written by AI, checked by rules
Articles are written by AI. Before an article is published, automated quality rules check it: the length, that names, scores and claims are supported by the sources or our data, that previews make no predictions or betting tips, and that coach quotes and claims about what is at stake are backed by a source. An article that fails a rule is held back or written again.
4Attribution
A quote says who said it and where it was said. A report that only one outlet carries names that outlet. We do not present another outlet's exclusive as our own.
5No copied text
Articles are written in our own words. Each article is compared with its sources, and an article that is too close to a source is not published. Images are SportInsight covers or licensed Getty Images embeds, never photos copied from other outlets. News covers that include freely licensed photos are shared under the same licence (CC BY-SA where the photo requires it), with credits under each image.
6Youth football
We do not write about academy and youth players.
7Guest posts
Our blog also publishes guest posts by people who work with sports data. They are marked Guest post, with the writer's name and a short bio with one link. We don't pay for guest posts and never charge to publish one; an editor checks every post before it goes up. Write for us.
8Corrections
When we get something wrong, we correct the article and its update time changes. How to report an error is on the corrections page.
Tell us and we check it against our sources and data.
