Hull choose a 5-4-1 against unbeaten Everton - SportInsight

Hull City have named a 5-4-1 for Everton’s visit, with Oliver McBurnie, Joe Gelhardt and Matt Crooks starting as they take on a side unbeaten in five Premier League matches. Everton arrive eighth with nine points; Hull are 10th with eight, setting up a close contest in the table.

Lewie Coyle captains Hull. The starting XI also features Nobel Mendy, Sorba Thomas, Konstantinos Tzolakis, John Egan, Regan Slater, Ryan Giles and Semi Ajayi. Hull have named Hidemasa Morita, Tim Iroegbunam, Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Elliot Stroud among their substitutes.

Six players are unavailable for the hosts: Charlie Hughes and Darko Gyabi with groin injuries, Eliot Matazo with a knee injury, Ilyas Ansah with a back injury, Jack Butland with an arm injury and Matt Targett with an ankle injury. The absences leave Hull with a number of changes to manage as they prepare to face Everton’s unbeaten run.

Jack Grealish and Brennan Johnson start for Everton. Jordan Pickford, James Garner, James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite, Michael Keane, Thierno Barry, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Harrison Armstrong complete the XI. Tarkowski captains the visitors.

Everton’s substitutes include Charly Alcaraz, Tyler Dibling and Christian Nørgaard. The match kicks off at 14:00 BST on Sunday 11 October. Hull’s compact 5-4-1 is the headline selection detail, while Everton will look to extend their unbeaten start against a Hull side just one point behind them.
