Tuttosport, relayed by Sport Witness, reports that Arsenal are among the front-runners for Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, with Tottenham Hotspur also in the chase. The report says Brugge’s valuation has risen since the Belgian club quoted Roma €60 million (£50 million) in the summer, but it gives no new asking price.
Tresoldi’s start to the season is central to the reported increase. Tuttosport says the 22-year-old Germany Under-21 international has scored nine goals in 11 matches, including four in two Champions League appearances. The report links that form to the rise in his valuation.
Roma tried to sign the centre-forward in the summer with a package worth €35 million (£30 million), according to Tuttosport, but Brugge turned down the offer and quoted €60 million. That earlier gap between Roma’s bid and Brugge’s valuation gives a clearer sense of the scale of any potential deal, even before the reported increase.
Tottenham’s interest predates the latest report. Spurs were reported to have enquired about Tresoldi’s availability in the summer, when he remained at Brugge. Tuttosport says the north London club has examined him in recent months, while Arsenal are now also described as a leading contender.
The report names Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Barcelona among the other clubs monitoring the former Hannover player. It also says Tresoldi has long dreamed of playing for AC Milan, although a move to San Siro is described as far-fetched at present.
The links come amid reports that both Arsenal and Tottenham are looking to add a number nine in January. They have also been connected with other shared targets, including Kim Min-jae, while Eli Junior Kroupi has been mentioned as another possible option for either club. Those links do not establish that either side has made an offer for Tresoldi; the key detail from Tuttosport is that Brugge’s already high summer valuation has reportedly climbed again. Any pursuit would therefore hinge on whether a club is willing to meet the Belgian side’s demands, which remain unspecified.
