Amad returns for Manchester United as Rashford drops to the bench at Leeds - SportInsight

Amad is set for his 100th Manchester United appearance after being named in the starting XI for Sunday’s visit to Leeds, with Marcus Rashford dropping to the bench. United’s published line-up makes the forward change alongside a defensive reshuffle, as Harry Maguire returns to the starting defence.

Maguire partners Lisandro Martínez at centre-back. Leny Yoro starts at right-back and Diogo Dalot switches to the left, with Luke Shaw injured. Senne Lammens is in goal. The XI also includes Carlos Baleba and Andrey Santos in midfield, with Youri Tielemans ahead of them. Bruno Fernandes takes a forward role alongside Bryan Mbeumo.

Amad’s exact position on the right or left is unclear, according to The Peoples Person. His return gives United another attacking option, while Rashford is among the substitutes. Noussair Mazraoui is also back in the squad. Manchester United’s website says Matthijs de Ligt has returned to a Premier League squad for the first time since November 2025; The Peoples Person says he could get minutes.

United are without Kobbie Mainoo, who did not travel, and injured players Manu Ugarte, Ben Sesko and Patrick Dorgu, who has a hamstring injury. The changes come as United look to improve their league position: they are 14th on six points, three points and five places behind eighth-placed Leeds, according to the standings in the canonical report.

Leeds name an unchanged side for a fifth consecutive Premier League game, Manchester United’s website reports. Their XI is Trafford; Justin, Elvedi and Muharemovic; Bogle, Stach, Ampadu, Tanaka and Gudmundsson; Calvert-Lewin and Okafor. Leeds have nine points from six games.

Kick-off at Elland Road is 14:00 BST on Sunday. With the sides separated by three points, the result gives United a chance to close the gap on Leeds and improve their position in the table.
