Warren Bondo rejoins Milan training but remains outside Amorim’s plans

Warren Bondo is back training with AC Milan’s first team, but the change does not make him available for a match. The 2003-born midfielder remains excluded from the club’s Serie A, Coppa Italia and Europa League lists, and Ruben Amorim does not view him as a tactical option.

Bondo had been training alone for weeks after failing to secure a move during the summer transfer window. His representatives explored options in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, but none satisfied both the player’s camp and Milan, Calciomercato reports. A move to Turkey had also been linked with the French midfielder.

Matteo Moretto reported that Bondo would return to first-team training. The club accepted the player’s request to rejoin the group, changing his day-to-day situation without changing his place in Milan’s plans. He can train with the squad, but he cannot feature in any of the competitions for which the club has submitted its lists.

The gap between training and playing is the key point for Milan. Bondo’s return gives him access to the first-team group again, but it offers no immediate route into Amorim’s matchday options. Milan are fifth with 12 points from six league matches and are due to host Atalanta on 18 October; Bondo will not be available for that fixture.

Milan have proposed terminating Bondo’s contract, but the two sides have not agreed terms. His deal runs until 30 June 2029, so the club cannot simply treat his return to training as a resolution to the situation. Any departure requires an agreement between the parties.

January is now the next opportunity to find a way forward. Reports expect Milan to try to arrange a separation during the winter window, which opens at the end of December. Until then, Bondo is back among the first-team group but remains outside the squad lists and Amorim’s plans.
