Rodrigo Mora is in line to start for Roma against Genoa, with five regulars unavailable and young players likely to take on bigger roles. Forzaroma.info expects Mora to feature alongside Matías Soulé and Santiago Castro, while Niccolò Pisilli and Lulli are also in contention to start.
Donyell Malen is suspended. Bryan Cristante, Paulo Dybala, Manu Koné and Mile Svilar are out injured, leaving Gian Piero Gasperini without five players. Roma have also called up four Primavera players: Camara, Di Nunzio, Paratici and Arena.
The expected changes come as Roma look to end a run of two league draws against Inter and Como. Another draw would make it three in a row, matching a sequence last seen in February 2022 under José Mourinho. Forzaroma.info also reported a midweek setback against Real Madrid, adding to the pressure to return to winning ways.
Roma are third with 14 points from six games, while Genoa are 17th with four. The home side have a strong record at the Olimpico against their visitors: they are unbeaten in their last 23 home league meetings with Genoa, winning 19 and drawing four. Genoa’s last league victory there came in 1990, although they won the most recent meeting between the clubs on March 8.
The visitors are coached by former Roma captain Daniele De Rossi. He made 616 appearances and scored 63 goals for the Giallorossi, second on the club’s appearance list behind Francesco Totti.
Mora’s expected starting role puts the focus on Roma’s depth as they try to turn two draws into a win. Kick-off is Saturday, October 17, at 20:45 CEST.
