Piccoli injury leaves Bologna waiting for checks ahead of next Inter fixture

Roberto Piccoli’s flexor problem has no confirmed recovery timeline, leaving Bologna unable to say whether he will be available for their next listed fixture, at home to Inter on 17 October at 18:00 CEST.

Piccoli was forced off around the half-hour mark against Inter after going down with a muscle problem in his leg. Calciomercato.com reported that he received treatment before walking off accompanied by Bologna’s medical staff. Jay Enem replaced him.

The injury’s severity is still unknown. Bologna will need to assess Piccoli before setting a recovery estimate or determining whether he will miss any matches. The next listed meeting with Inter is therefore the immediate availability question, rather than a confirmed absence.

Piccoli has made two league appearances for Bologna this season without scoring. Enem, who came on in his place, has one league goal. That gives Bologna a direct attacking option, but the substitution alone does not establish how the club will manage Piccoli’s role if the injury keeps him out.

The timing matters for a Bologna side sitting 14th with five points from six games. Inter lead the table with 16 points. Bologna’s position leaves little room for an extended wait to assess the effect of the injury, but there is not yet enough information to put a number on Piccoli’s absence.

For now, the key point is uncertainty: Piccoli left the pitch under his own power, but that does not confirm the extent of a flexor injury. Medical checks will determine the severity and whether he can feature in the next listed fixture against Inter.
