Milan are set to secure Strahinja Pavlović’s future through 2031, extending the Serbian defender’s deal by three years and reinforcing the club’s faith in a player who has become a strength in their defence.
Pavlović arrived at Casa Milan to complete the renewal, according to reports. His current contract runs to 2028; the new agreement is expected to keep him at the club until 2031. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that his net annual salary will rise from €1.7 million to about €3 million, close to double his current figure.
The commitment reflects a change in Pavlović’s standing since he joined Milan in the summer of 2024. His first season, under Paulo Fonseca and Sérgio Conceição, was uneven. He became a defensive regular under Massimiliano Allegri last season and is now regarded as one of the back line’s strengths under Ruben Amorim.
His contribution includes seven goals in 80 appearances across league and cup competitions. Reports also say he turned down the Premier League to remain at Milan, choosing a longer stay in a city and club he has spoken warmly about.
“I think I want to stay at Milan for a long time. I like the city and the environment, as well as our supporters. I’m very happy here and want to win with Milan,” Pavlović told SportMediaset last April. He also spoke about singing with supporters after matches, saying: “We have to be united with our supporters.”
The renewal gives Milan continuity in a defence where Pavlović has moved from an inconsistent first campaign to a regular and trusted presence. At 24, he is being tied down well beyond his existing contract rather than allowed to approach its final years.
Milan are fifth after six league games, with 12 points and an unbeaten record. Their next match is at home to Atalanta on Sunday, 18 October, but this deal is about the longer view: keeping a developing defender in place through 2031.
