AC Milan have started discussions with Adrien Rabiot’s mother and agent over a contract extension through June 2030, Calciomercato.com reports, citing Corriere dello Sport. The reported proposal includes a pay rise, with Milan aiming to reach an agreement before the end of 2026.
Rabiot’s current deal runs until June 2028. Calciomercato.com says Milan are stepping up their efforts to keep the French midfielder, who joined the club a year ago for a reported €7.4 million. Milan have already announced a contract extension for Strahinja Pavlović through 2031, and the outlet reports that Rabiot’s renewal is another priority.
The reports describe Rabiot as an important part of Ruben Amorim’s plans, as he was under Massimiliano Allegri. Calciomercato.com credits him with three goals and three assists this season, including an assist for Cisse’s third goal against Salzburg and a role in the moves leading to the first two. Milan’s league records list one goal in one appearance for Rabiot this season.
His start to the campaign came after he joined Milan’s summer training camp in mid-August, following France’s World Cup campaign, which ended with the third-place match. Calciomercato.com reports that Amorim brought him off the bench in the early games against Torino and Venezia before starting him against Juventus. The outlet says Rabiot then featured in every league match, including the 3-0 win over Lecce and 1-1 draw with Sassuolo. He began the Europa League match against Benfica on the bench before making an impact against Salzburg.
Calciomercato.com says Amorim intends to use Rabiot both centrally and further forward, with fewer defensive duties to let him contribute more in attack. The midfielder scored six goals and provided five assists in 32 appearances last season, according to the outlet.
Milan are sixth with 12 points from six matches and are due to host Atalanta on Sunday, October 18. The reported renewal would extend Rabiot’s stay by two years beyond his current contract, but talks have not yet produced a completed deal.
