Krösche leaves Eintracht immediately as Milan interest resurfaces

Markus Krösche has stepped away from his sporting director duties at Eintracht Frankfurt with immediate effect, reopening Milan’s interest in a possible head-of-football appointment, according to Calciomercato.com. The German club’s supervisory board accepted his request to leave the role, while his contract remains in place until 30 June 2028 under agreed changes.

Eintracht announced the decision in a club statement, thanking Krösche for his work in recent years and wishing him well. Calciomercato.com says he had been in the role since 2021. The announcement comes during a difficult opening stretch for Eintracht: the club had eight points from its first six Bundesliga matches and sat 11th, according to the outlet. Its 1-0 win over Cologne followed a heavy defeat to Leipzig the previous week.

Krösche was a target for Milan last summer. Calciomercato.com reported that the Rossoneri tried to bring him in as head of football, while MilanNews.it said he had come close to signing for the club. His departure from Eintracht puts him back among the names Milan could consider, but there is no confirmation of a new approach.

Calciomercato.com reports that Milan owner Gerry Cardinale wants to resolve the head-of-football appointment in the coming months and bring in a football executive to work alongside coach Ruben Amorim. Krösche’s availability gives Milan another possible candidate as they weigh that role; it does not establish that he is their preferred choice.

Milan had 12 points from six Serie A matches and were seventh, according to the canonical report. They are due to travel to Udinese on Sunday 25 October. Krösche’s exit has revived the link with Milan, but the next step in the club’s search remains unconfirmed.
