Genoa are set to return to their usual back three for Saturday’s visit to Roma after using a four-man defence in their win over Fiorentina. ANSA reports Daniele De Rossi’s side are preparing to switch back to a three-man defensive line at the Stadio Olimpico.
The change would see Genoa return to their familiar shape for a difficult test against a Roma side that has started the season unbeaten. Roma sit third with 14 points from six matches, having recorded four wins and two draws. Genoa go into the fixture after beating Fiorentina, who are 19th with four points from six games.
De Rossi has named 24 players for the trip. Amorim is back in the squad, while Robinho Junior has received a second call-up after also being included for the Fiorentina match. Their inclusion adds two notable squad updates ahead of De Rossi’s return to the Olimpico.
The full Genoa squad is Amorim, Baldanzi, Bijlow, Drameh, El Shaarawy, Ellertsson, Frendrup, Klisys, Marcandalli, Messias, Mitaj, Osmajic, Østigård, Otoa, Puczka, Robinho Junior, Sabelli, Sommariva, Stolz, Traoré, Vasquez, Vaz, Vitinha and Wiafe.
This is De Rossi’s second visit to the Olimpico as an opposing coach. The former Roma player now takes Genoa there with a recent win behind him and a likely return to the defensive setup used more regularly by his side. Genoa visit Roma on Saturday, 17 October, with kick-off at 20:45 CEST.
