Bernardo Corradi’s future is under scrutiny after Sampdoria’s 2-1 home defeat to Arezzo left them joint-bottom with four points from seven matches. Calciomercato.com reports the club is weighing Corradi’s position, while Tuttomercatoweb names Luca D’Angelo and Giuseppe Iachini as leading candidates if Sampdoria decide to dismiss him.
Sampdoria took the lead through Liam Henderson, but Arena equalised before Chierico scored Arezzo’s winner in the 60th minute. The result followed a 4-1 defeat by Avellino, leaving Corradi’s side without the response they needed.
The frustration boiled over at the Luigi Ferraris. Calciomercato.com reports that supporters in the La Sud section threw flares onto the pitch during stoppage time, prompting referee Colombo to suspend play for several minutes. After the final whistle, chants and whistles were directed at the players.
Sampdoria have one win, one draw and five defeats, and share last place with Catanzaro. The poor start comes after the club survived only on the penultimate matchday last season, having also escaped relegation through the playouts in 2024/25. Calciomercato.com says expectations were higher, but another campaign focused on avoiding relegation is now a concern.
Corradi’s points return has invited comparisons with his predecessor. Massimo Donati was dismissed a year ago after collecting five points from his first eight matches; Corradi has four from seven. A separate Tuttomercatoweb report said Corradi was still due to lead Sampdoria’s morning training, even as the club considered its next move.
For now, Sampdoria have not announced a change of coach. The immediate decision is whether the board gives Corradi more time or acts after a run that has left the team last and supporters openly protesting. If the club does make a change, D’Angelo and Iachini are the names Tuttomercatoweb identifies as the front-runners.
