Como beat Fiorentina 3‑1 to take sole fourth place

Como scored three times at the Franchi to beat Fiorentina 3-1 and move into sole fourth place in Serie A. The win takes them to 14 points after seven matches; Fiorentina remain penultimate with four.

Mattia Liberali opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, finishing a move assisted by Maxence Caqueret. Nico Paz doubled Como’s lead just four minutes later, set up by Álex Valle.

Fiorentina responded before the break. Marin Pongračić scored in the 42nd minute to make it 2-1, and later had another goal ruled out for offside after a VAR check, according to FCInter1908.

Como restored their two-goal cushion in the 56th minute. Paz provided the assist for Anastasios Douvikas, whose goal made it 3-1 and settled the result.

The three points lift Como to 14 and leave them alone in fourth. Fiorentina’s four points from seven matches leave them penultimate, with the gap in the table between the sides now reflected in a decisive away performance from Como.

Como’s next match is at home to Sassuolo on Saturday 24 October at 15:00 CEST. Fiorentina travel to face Inter the following day, Sunday 25 October, at 12:30 CET. Those fixtures give both sides an immediate chance to respond: Como will try to build on their place in the top four, while Fiorentina seek points after another defeat.
