Bournemouth’s message on Alex Scott is clear: Marco Rose says the club still counts on the midfielder, despite reports linking him with AC Milan for January. The coach declined to discuss transfer rumours, stopping short of confirming any move or negotiations.
“We do not comment on rumours that emerge just after the transfer window closes,” Rose said at a press conference before Bournemouth’s Europa League match against Sturm Graz. “We continue to count on Alex Scott.” He added that Scott is highly motivated and that Bournemouth hope to have him available again in a couple of days or weeks.
That leaves Milan’s reported interest without a public indication from Bournemouth that they are preparing to let Scott go. The reports have presented him as a possible option to strengthen the Rossoneri’s midfield in January, but Rose’s comments focus on the club’s reliance on the player rather than his future in the market.
Milan are fifth in Serie A with 12 points from six matches: three wins and three draws. Their next listed league fixture is at home against Atalanta on October 18. Scott’s link to the club arrives as Milan look toward the January window, but Rose’s remarks do not establish whether an approach has been made or what Bournemouth would do if one came.
Rose was also asked about Bournemouth’s defeat by Chelsea. He said the team must respond, pointing to a poor start that made the match more difficult and to the players’ disappointment afterward. His priority, he indicated, is to compete across competitions rather than allow the setback to define the team’s next performance.
The home European fixture against Sturm Graz gives Bournemouth a chance to show their quality in front of their supporters in a European competition, Rose said. For Scott, the immediate public position is straightforward: Bournemouth say they are counting on him, while Milan’s reported January interest remains just that—a report.
