Juventus considered Emil Audero among their goalkeeper options last summer, but the possibility of a return to Turin did not become a deal. Audero said the talks ended “for several reasons” and did not explain what those reasons were.
“I was just waiting to understand what the best solution might be, training to be ready for anything,” Audero told Gianluca Di Marzio’s website. He said Juventus had considered other goalkeepers as well, leaving the 1997-born keeper waiting to see how his situation would develop.
The interest would have brought Audero back to a club he knew from 2016-17. He said he appreciates that Juventus experience more now than he did at the time. Training every day alongside the squad made its quality feel normal, he recalled; looking back, he describes those players as “from another planet”. Audero also praised their character and singled out Massimiliano Allegri’s ability to connect with players of that calibre.
His spell at Inter in 2023-24 gave him a different point of comparison. Audero reunited with Nicolò Barella, Federico Dimarco and Alessandro Bastoni, whom he had known since Under-15 level. He described the Inter dressing room as a place with good people as well as good players, and said the team’s football was among the best he had seen. For Audero, the friendship within the squad was a strength.
Asked to compare the sides, he gave Juventus the advantage for individual quality and Inter the edge as a collective. He remembered Juventus winning difficult matches through individual moments, while Inter impressed him with their team play. It is a distinction between two different strengths, not a claim that one side was better in every respect.
The comparison lands amid a close early-season gap in the league table: Inter lead with 16 points from six matches, while Juventus are sixth on 11. Inter visit Bologna on 17 October, and Juventus host Lazio the following day. Audero’s account confirms Juventus considered him, but leaves the reasons the move stalled unanswered.
