Atalanta’s first league match after their 119th birthday will carry a visible reminder of the club’s history: a commemorative patch on the shirts worn against Frosinone on 25 October.

The club, founded in 1907, celebrates its birthday on 17 October. Atalanta say the patch is an annual tradition for their first league fixture after the anniversary. This year, it will be worn at the New Balance Arena for the eighth round of Serie A Enilive.

The timing gives the occasion a sporting edge as well as a historical one. Atalanta are 10th with nine points from six matches, while Frosinone are fifth with 13 points from seven. Both are in the top half, and Frosinone arrive with a four-point lead despite having played one more game.

Atalanta’s route to the home fixture includes an away match against AC Milan on 18 October, the day after the birthday. The Frosinone game is therefore the first league opportunity for the club to mark the anniversary with its supporters at home, following that trip to Milan.

The patch will not change the points at stake, but it gives the fixture a distinct connection to Atalanta’s 119 years. For a team looking to close the gap on fifth-placed Frosinone, the celebration arrives alongside a consequential league meeting: the shirt will honour the club’s past, while the result will shape the table.
